First European derogation license for Spear® LEP from Oxygen!

It is with great pleasure that we inform you that after a concerted effort of our company with the American company VESTARON CORPORATION a derogation authorization of 120 days (134 / 2903) was granted  by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food for 120 days (134 / 2903) of the SPEAR LEP preparation with active ingredient GS-omega/kappa HXTX-Hv1a for the control of Tuta absoluta in tomato ( use from 1/3-28/06).

What makes this license particularly important is that the active GS-omega/kappa HXTX-Hv1a belongs to a new class of active ingredients,  peptides, which have been classified by IRAC in Group 32 to which none of the other existing active ingredients belong.. This New Class comes to bring solutions in resistance management and is considered by the global scientific community the next big thing in plant protection.GS-omega/kappa HXTX-Hv1a is derived from a naturally occurring peptide (protein) found in the venom of the Australian Blue-Mountain Funnel-web Spider (Hadronyche versuta) fully biodegradable, as the product breaks down into amino acids after use and essentially becomes a source of nutrients for soil microorganisms.

VESTARON CORPORATION  is the first company to be able to develop a peptide-based product after 10 years of research, while at the same time there are conferences, discussions and a lot of research on this new group of actives from many universities and spin-off companies.

VESTARON after having managed to approve the product in the USA, Canada and Mexico and to have it already in use for 5 years with great success decided to bring it to Europe.

At the moment at European level they have managed to get completeness in the active and are in the process of approving the formulation with a label with a wide spectrum of action that will include almost all major crops

The decision to come to Europe with such high approval costs and a comparatively much smaller market than America shows how much they believe in this product.

They have applied for a derogation permit in Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Portugal in cooperation with the largest tomato cooperatives!

Greece is the first to grant the permit in honor of the Greek Ministry of Rural Development and Foodas well as all the that made a positive recommendation. Our applicationstrong> was made with the support of 19 Cooperatives nationwide, who understood and supported our effort as well as always in cooperation with VESTARON which provided to a perfect extent all the necessary information through a large number of experiments and studies they have conducted in Europe (Spain, Greece, Italy, Portugal).

Thank you all for your support and for understanding how important it is that such products with this profile reach the hands of our farmers.

We are sure that this is an important chapter in plant protection and we look forward to sharing it with you!
